|
Memphis beat Calgary on the strength of starter Sergio Gómez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Gómez went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-6. Ricardo Rodríguez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Arlington, Texas-born Roger Dorn came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Redbirds trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Memphis on top.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Gómez.
The win puts the Redbirds at 27-42, while the Lynx drop to 31-38.
