Campoverde Hits 2 home runs in Longnecks Win
|
Bloomington left fielder Gabrio Campoverde had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Baltimore Black Sox, 5-2. Robby Oglethorpe got the win, improving to 4-2. He held the Black Sox to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. John Walton earned the save for Bloomington, his 12th of the year.
Campoverde had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Darren Garland, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Longnecks a 2-1 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Campoverde.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Campoverde said.
Bloomington is 39-27 and Baltimore, with the loss, 29-37.
