Belugas Prevail, 2-1, Over Bakersfield
|
The Brinkley Belugas got a magnificent performance from pitcher Ted Chong, who muffled the Bakersfield offense en route to a tight 2-1 Belugas win at Belugas Ballpark. Chong, now 7-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Sicnarf Loopstok earned the save, his 2nd.
In the bottom of the 6th, first baseman Noah Bushby gave Brinkley the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Belugas had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Bakersfield pitcher Darby Marshall changed that -- and Brinkley went on to win.
"We take it day by day here," said Bushby, "and today was a good one for us."
Brinkley occupies 5th place in the Premier AAA at 30-28.
