Golden Cranes Cut Down Longnecks, 6-4
|
Fans who gathered at Crane Field saw a good contest between the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes and Bloomington Longnecks.
Santa Barbara Golden Cranes starter José Sipe pitched a strong game against the Bloomington Longnecks at Crane Field, leading the Golden Cranes to a 6-4 win. Sipe, now 7-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs.
Xu Cheng went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Santa Barbara. The 26-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Robby Oglethorpe. It was his 23rd hit of the season.
"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Sipe said later.
