Nobles Suffer 3-1 Loss to Golden Cranes
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes picked up a win at Jerome Grounds, knocking off the Bakersfield Nobles, 3-1. Starting pitcher José Sipe played a key role in the triumph. Eijiro Takahashi earned the save, his 13th. The Golden Cranes saw their record improve to 28-25.
Ed St. James, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a cutter from Mimosa Joseph for a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season put Santa Barbara in front, 3-1.
"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Sipe said later.
