The Portland Evergreens picked up a win at Evergreen Park, knocking off the New Orleans Voodoo, 7-4. Starting pitcher Addie Samson was an essential part of his team's success. In 6.2 innings, Samson surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 4 runs. Portland is now 54-31, while New Orleans is 43-42.
One of the key players for the Evergreens was designated hitter Yataro Kodo, who drilled a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, Kodo went 1 for 5 with a double.
"We'll savor this win," Samson told the Portland News, "then get ready for the next game."
