The Calgary Lynx got a superb performance from pitcher Juan Montoya, but the Scranton Supernovas still won the game, 6-5. Montoya was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Scranton reliever Malulani Anakone was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Greg Fontenot took the loss for Calgary. The Lynx, at 4-13, have stumbled out of the gate.

Scranton won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Greg Fontenot on the mound for Calgary, left fielder Toyokazu Oshima hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Supernovas fans to their feet.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Calgary manager Dave Lee. "But we decided not to take it."
