The Chicago Gold Sox downed the Las Vegas Flamingos, 7-6, at The Strip. Miguel Gazivoda led the way, going 4-for-5 for Chicago. Kelemeneke Balun earned the win for Chicago. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 6 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 5-5. Getting the save was Martín García, his 4th.
Shigenobu Ohayashi drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate. He drove in 2 runs for Chicago. The 26-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Pedro Ortíz. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban. "But we decided not to take it."
After today's action, Chicago sits at 26-57, while Las Vegas falls to 47-36.
