Youth Prevail, 4-2, Over Asheville
|
Phoenix Hotspur Youth starter José Correa pitched a strong game against the Asheville Highlanders at Grenadiers Ballpark, leading the Youth to a 4-2 win. Correa, the winner, moves to 8-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Rex Loggins was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Phoenix Hotspur left fielder Phil Mazzeo helped the Youth to the win. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the 25-year old center fielder stroked a 2-run single. For the game, Mazzeo was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Youth manager Junior Benítez. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Phoenix Hotspur is now 39-63.
