With center fielder Bartho Simonse leading the charge, the Ottawa Nationals defeated the Durham Rapiers, 7-5, at Rapiers Ballpark. Simonse, who is tied for 6th in the 3AA in home runs with 14, was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Luis Soto earned the save for Ottawa, his 3rd of the year. Ottawa is now 33-59, while Durham is 55-37.
Ottawa shortstop Manuel Vroonland contributed to the cause with a 2-run single in the top of the third. For the game, Vroonland was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Ottawa manager Manny Cuellar.
