Behind a solid performance from catcher Steve Pugh, the Richland Rails defeated the Salem Misfits, 5-1. Pugh went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for the Rails. Chris Holmes, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save. Richland, at 30-44, sits in 11th place in the Menard's AA.

José Vargas helped out the Richland cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"I thought we played a nice game," Pugh told the Richland Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
