Aguilar Excels, But BC Win
|
San Antonio withstood an impressive performance by Olympia first baseman Luis Aguilar to defeat the Ogres, 8-6, at San Antonio Field. Aguilar hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. José Lucero, credited with the win, is now 4-6. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. San Antonio is now 37-26, Olympia 26-37.
Tied up with the Ogres in the bottom of the fifth inning, the BC got a boost from center fielder Chad Valentín. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Valentín saw a 2-0 cutter from Coy Britt and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put San Antonio on top, 8-5.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Valentín told the San Antonio Citizen.
