Big Day for Zhi as Nationals Down Rapiers, 6-2
|
The exploits of shortstop Cheh Zhi helped the Ottawa Nationals defeat the Durham Rapiers, 6-2. Zhi was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ottawa reliever Walt Wilson was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Arturo Durán took the loss for Durham. Ottawa is now 22-39.
Zhi had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Arturo Durán, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Nationals a 6-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Zhi.
Zhi told a Ottawa Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
