Ogres Score Late, Top Youth, 2-1
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Youth got a sterling performance from pitcher Felipe Filipe, but the Ogres still prevailed, 2-1. Filipe was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The Ogres' win now puts them at 25-32.
Had Desi Fleming not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Fleming hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Ogres.
"Runs were at a premium," said Olympia manager Bob Thomas.
