Both teams had their chances, but the Phoenix Hotspur Youth eventually prevailed at Rapiers Ballpark.
Phoenix Hotspur Youth starter Eduardo Arroyo turned in a sterling performance against the Durham Rapiers, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Phoenix Hotspur reliever Coy Mitoglou picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-3. Chet Gustafson was collared with the loss.
Greg Billingsley's hit in the top of the 11th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Chet Gustafson for a run-scoring single. It put Phoenix Hotspur in front, 3-2.
"I know we have our doubters," said Durham manager Brody Roberts. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
Phoenix Hotspur is now 19-34.
