Muńóz 4-5 as Rails Squeeze Past Olympia

The Richland Rails eked out a 6-5 win versus the Olympia Ogres at The Ogre Den. Nobody did more than third baseman Carlos Muńóz, who captured player of the game honors. Hirohisa Niiya got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Stan Burgemeester earned the save, his 4th.
In the top of the 6th, catcher Tak-wai Jia gave Richland the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Rails had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Olympia pitcher Ding-bong Zhu changed that -- and Richland went on to win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Olympia manager Bob Thomas. "But we decided not to take it."
Richland is now 22-30, Olympia 23-29.
