Highlanders Clip Nationals in Tight Contest
|
The Asheville Highlanders turned back the Ottawa Nationals, 6-5, at Asheville Park. Francis Raffone was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Asheville has a 3-game win streak, while Ottawa has lost 3 in a row.
Tae-wan Park was the walk-off hero for Asheville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Highlanders designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Jack Alexander, the Asheville manager.
