It was a fun time at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, where the Phoenix Hotspur Youth and Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks tangled.
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks overcame a good performance by Phoenix Hotspur first baseman Lee Cooper to knock off Phoenix Hotspur, 6-3, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Cooper was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 triples, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Ricardo Martínez got the win, improving to 1-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Mike Preston closed the game out for Ft. Polk South, earning his 1st save.
The Thunder Hawks got a big at-bat from designated hitter Marc Ben. For the game, Ben went 2-4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 53rd hit of the season gave Ft. Polk South a 4-3 lead.
In postgame comments to the Ft. Polk South Gazette, Ben said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win puts the Thunder Hawks at 29-22, while the Youth drop to 18-33.
