Rails Edge Rapiers, 4-3
|
The Richland Rails did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Durham Rapiers at Rails Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Josh Waymouth, who captured player of the game honors. Richland reliever Stan Burgemeester was credited with the win, to go to 3-2. Chet Gustafson took the loss for Durham. Richland, at 19-28, sits in 10th place in the Menard's AA.
Late in the game, catcher Steve Pugh had a big at-bat for Richland. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring double off Chet Gustafson. The play gave the Rails a 4-3 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Durham manager Brody Roberts said following the tough loss.
