Thunder Hawks Win at Ottawa, 8-4
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks knocked off the Ottawa Nationals, 8-4, at Nationals Park. Ruggiero Veneziano, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Ft. Polk South won. The right fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jeff Wright earned the win for Ft. Polk South. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. The save was credited to Seong-hyeon Pak, his 4th.
Anastasio Flores, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA with a 1.033 OPS, helped out the Ft. Polk South cause in the top of the eighth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Flores, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Ft. Polk South is in 8th place in the Menard's AA with a record of 15-17.
