Mellor Rips Ft. Worth for 5 Hits
|
Ed Mellor put on a hitting clinic today as the Kingston Township Knights dumped the Ft. Worth Cattlemen 10-3 at The Cattle Pen.
The Kingston Township first baseman made Ft. Worth defenders earn their pay, lashing Ft. Worth pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Mellor said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Ed Mellor singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Francisco García in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Gojong Joseon in the 9th.
Mellor is hitting .304 this year with 20 home runs and 71 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .376, 44 walks and scored 52 times.
