Cattlemen Slip Past Kingston Township, 3-2
|
Despite a great performance by Kingston Township first baseman Ed Mellor, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the Knights by the score of 3-2 at Cloverdale Legion Park. Mellor went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ft. Worth reliever Burm Snart was the winner. His record is now 8-2. John Riggleman took the loss. Earning his 19th save for Ft. Worth was Gojong Joseon.
Jesús Morales had the most critical at-bat for Ft. Worth. With no one in the top of the tenth inning, Morales hit a 1-0 fastball from John Riggleman for a run-scoring single. It put Ft. Worth in front, 3-2.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Kingston Township manager Rayzor Ray. "We'll get this thing turned around."
The Knights, at 36-55, have lost 7 in a row.
