Valéncia Rips Mississippi for 5 Hits
|
José Valéncia put on a hitting clinic today as the Buckhead Bowties dumped the Mississippi Mockingbirds 8-4 at 5 Paces Park.
The Buckhead center fielder made Mississippi defenders earn their pay, lashing Mississippi pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Valéncia said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
José Valéncia singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Valéncia is hitting .367 so far this season with 26 RBIs and 61 runs scored. He has 103 hits including 7 home runs, 12 walks and .397 OBP.
