Big Day for Ríos as Shredders Down Piranhas, 16-4
|
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Ángel Ríos, the Hollywood Shredders defeated the Panama City Piranhas, 16-4. Ríos was 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5 for the Shredders. Bob Shepard was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Ron Crumpacker.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out and the bases loaded, the batter, Ángel Ríos, hit a grand slam. It helped Hollywood seize the win.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Hollywood manager Bill Cheese.
Hollywood is 25-23 and Panama City, with the loss, 24-24.
