Supernovas Turn Back Florida, 8-6
|
The Scranton Supernovas knocked off the Florida Men, 8-6, at Nuclear Stadium. Carlos Mendoza, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Scranton won. The shortstop was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Blair Wright, who threw 112 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 6 runs on 8 hits. Apollo Cepeda got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
José Bravo aided the Scranton cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 5 with a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Supernovas manager . "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Losses have been few and far between for the Men, who are now 9-3.
