Timber Hawks Come Up Short at Ellenburg
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds scored a 3-2 win versus the Augusta Timber Hawks at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Ellenburg pitcher Tupac Blanch nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Blanch, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Shawn Stevenson earned the save for Ellenburg, his 16th.
Had Sameen Shaw not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Shaw hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fighting Dachsunds.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Ellenburg manager Culley Adjeng said.
Ellenburg occupies 9th place in the Silver AAA at 32-55.
