Patriots Fall Short, 5-4, at Portland
|
The Boston Patriots and Portland Evergreens provided some drama at Evergreen Park.
The Portland Evergreens turned back the Boston Patriots, 5-4, at Evergreen Park. Willie McGirt was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Keith Rojas earned the save for Portland, his 3rd of the year.
McGirt contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run triple. It was one of the critical at-bats that helped Portland get the win.
"I like our mindset right now," said Portland manager Dummy Manager.
Portland has now won 4 straight.
