Late Rally by Tritons Seals 4th Straight Win
|
Vermont got a terrific performance from pitcher Jon Briddon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Jersey City Tritons. Jersey City won the Monster Field contest, 6-4. Briddon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 4 runs. Kyung-nam Kim was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Jersey City has now won 4 games in a row.
Had Pancho González not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, González hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Tritons.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," González said.
