The Port Royal Disaster defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 5-4, in USSL Triple A action at Ballpark of Port Royal, with Port Royal pitcher Fernando Varela named player of the game. Chenor Njie earned the save for Port Royal, his 10th. Port Royal has 4 straight wins, Ellenburg 3 straight losses.
Michael Brannon went 1 for 3 for Port Royal. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gerald Bolton. It was his 33rd RBI of the season.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Brannon told the Port Royal Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
