Late Rally by Targaryens Secures Win
|
The Royse City Targaryens beat the Augusta Timber Hawks, 5-3, at Royse City Stadium. Michael Witt was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 24-year old center fielder was a menace to Augusta all day. Royse City reliever Hercules Mata'afa picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Christiaan Volkers was saddled with the loss. The Targaryens have an impressive 37-17 record.
Witt had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Christiaan Volkers, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Targaryens a 5-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Witt.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Witt told the Royse City Gazette.
