The Port Royal Disaster defeated the Alloway Halberds, 4-2, in USSL Triple A action at Ballpark of Port Royal, with Port Royal pitcher Jerry Kumpf named player of the game. Kumpf went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-2. Chenor Njie earned the save for Port Royal, his 8th of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Oki Hai was at the plate when Port Royal scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Disaster to go in front, 2-1.
Hai called the triumph "a good team win."
The Disaster saw their win-loss record go to 28-23. At the same time, the Halberds fell to 13-38.
