Victory Over Rocks Takes Vermont to 35-16
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Monster Field, knocking off the Plymouth Rocks, 4-1. Starting pitcher Jon Briddon, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Briddon, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. The first-place Lake Monsters have a one-game lead in their division.
Jason Slaybaugh, who is tied for 3rd in the SAAA in runs scored with 33, aided the Vermont cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the first baseman was 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Slaybaugh, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
