The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds turned back the Royse City Targaryens, 3-2, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Theron Montecalvo was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was James Bennett, who threw 86 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 2 hits. Shawn Stevenson got credit for the save for Ellenburg. It was his 7th of the year.
Montecalvo contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ellenburg in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Montecalvo took a circle change from Calvin Beck and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Fighting Dachsunds to leap in front, 3-1.
