Garza Slugs Halberds to 9-4 Win
|
Alloway center fielder Carlos Garza was a significant contributor in his team's 9-4 triumph over the Pennsauken Flyers. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for Alloway. Peter Glenn, the winner, improved to 2-6. He held the Flyers to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The save went to Joe Martarano, his 1st this season.
Garza came through with some timely hitting for Alloway. With the score 5-4 in the top of the fourth and two down, Garza hit a 1-0 curveball for a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 7-4, Alloway.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Garza. "And not try to do too much."
Even with the win, the Halberds have a dismal 8-32 record.
