Tritons Throttle Halberds, 5-1
|
It was a fun time at Jersey City Grounds, where the Alloway Halberds and Jersey City Tritons tangled.
The Jersey City Tritons went home winners at Jersey City Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Iwane Chihara. Chihara silenced the Alloway Halberds, enabling Jersey City to grab the 5-1 win. Tom King earned the save for Jersey City, his 2nd of the year.
Nick Bechtel aided the Jersey City cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Tritons manager Juan López, "I like our chances."
The Tritons improved to 21-18.
