Lake Monsters Clip Timber Hawks, 5-4
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Augusta Timber Hawks at Monster Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Mark Clift, who captured player of the game honors. The Lake Monsters improved to a lofty 29-9.
In the bottom of the first, Jason Slaybaugh hit a 3-run home run for Vermont. The 5th home run of the season for the Vermont first baseman put the Lake Monsters on top, 3-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Slaybaugh. "And not try to do too much."
