Halberds Get One-Run Win at Augusta
|
The Alloway Halberds topped the Augusta Timber Hawks, 4-3, with second baseman Enrique Gómez playing a big role. Gómez was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Halberds in the win. The Halberds now have a record of 5-27.
Gómez had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Woody Hudson, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Halberds a 4-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Gómez.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Alloway manager Wes Murray. "It's usually not just one thing."
