The Vermont Lake Monsters got a stellar performance from pitcher Ramón Martínez, who handcuffed the Ellenburg offense en route to a 5-2 win at Monster Field. René Fontaine picked up the save, his 9th. Vermont leads the Silver AAA by 2½ games.

Had Manuel Núñez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Núñez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Lake Monsters.

Martínez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
