Flyers Lose, 5-2, at Monster Field
|
Vermont Lake Monsters starter Roger Rodenburg turned in a top-notch performance against the Pennsauken Flyers at Monster Field. The result was a win for the Lake Monsters, 5-2. In 6.1 innings, Rodenburg surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The Lake Monsters, now 15-4, have hit the ground running this season.
Marcel Roks had a big run-scoring double for the Lake Monsters in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Vermont trailing 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Júlio Gutiérrez and stroked the double to right-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lake Monsters ahead, 2-1.
"I like our moxie," said Lake Monsters manager Coy Knight.
