Núñez slugs 2 home runs as Lake Monsters Squeeze Past Ellenburg
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Manuel Núñez, the Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 8-7. Núñez hit 2 home runs for the Lake Monsters. Ramón Martínez picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-0. René Fontaine was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.

Jason Slaybaugh's at-bat in the top of the eighth was significant for the Lake Monsters. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Vermont leading 6-2, the first baseman hit a 2-run single.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Núñez.

The Lake Monsters, now 11-1, have been on fire in the early going.
