Timber Hawks Turn Back Alloway, 3-2
|
Fans who came to Ballpark of Alloway watched the Augusta Timber Hawks and the Alloway Halberds fight to the finish.
Augusta beat Alloway on the strength of starter Keith Cochrane's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Cochrane picked up the win for Augusta, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
Krystof Melichar, who is tied for 9th in the SAAA with a 1.084 OPS, aided the Augusta cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop went 2-4 with a double.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Cochrane.
The Timber Hawks raised their record to 7-4.
