Lake Monsters Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Halberds
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Alloway Halberds, 8-4, in USSL Triple A action at Monster Field, with Vermont pitcher Mark Clift named player of the game. The Lake Monsters keep rolling, raising their record to 3-0.
Rafael Pueblo was 1-4 with a walk for Vermont. The 29-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Francisco García. It was his 3rd walk of the season.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Clift. "Successful pitchers do it."
