Miners Fall Short, 5-4, at Chesapeake
|
The Chesapeake Continentals scored a 5-4 win versus the Marquette Miners at Chesapeake Grounds. Chesapeake pitcher Kingston Liniak nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. In 7 innings, Liniak surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Marquette has now lost 4 straight.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Raphaël Duval went deep for the Continentals. With Chesapeake leading 4-0, he drilled a solo home run.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Liniak told the Chesapeake Chronicle.
