Bowties Edge Past Evergreens, 5-4
|
The Bowties had to overcome a good performance from Portland pitcher César Albó to claim a 5-4 win at Evergreen Park. Albó went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Nand Lal Chaudhary in relief. His record improves to 7-5. Raúl Romero took the loss. Jason Millward earned the save, his 4th.
In the top of the eighth inning, shortstop Richard Jost came through big-time for the Bowties. With Buckhead trailing 4-0, he belted a grand slam home run.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister.
Buckhead, at 26-21, occupies 5th place in the Premier League.
