The Belvedere Park Rawhides relied on the hitting of designated hitter Ken Gill to stop the Chesapeake Continentals, 8-3. For the game, Gill went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Ron Pomar picked up the save, his 6th. Chesapeake has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Mike Printup had a big run-scoring single for the Rawhides in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Belvedere Park leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Roger Versluis and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 66th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rawhides ahead, 5-3.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Printup.
