Continentals Can't Finish, Lose 8-7
|
Chesapeake got a terrific game from left fielder Pancho González. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Irving, 8-7. González was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Irving reliever Manuel Montero picked up the win to move to 3-3. Francisco Torres suffered the loss. Irving is now 27-15. Chesapeake is 18-24.
Sadakuno Hashimoto hit a solo home run off Francisco Torres in the top of the ninth, which put the Blue Sox ahead, 8-7. In addition to the homer, Hashimoto had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"We got the victory," said Hashimoto. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
