Continentals Beat Miners in 10
|
Chesapeake and Marquette duked it out at Marquette Stadium and the Continentals came out victorious.
Chesapeake beat Marquette at Marquette Stadium, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Nick Bechtel, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs. Tom King recorded the save for Chesapeake, his 2nd of the season.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the third inning. That's when second baseman Tomás Valdéz, who was drafted in the three round of the 2031 draft, drew a walk. The Continentals went on to win.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Marquette manager Burton Storey. "The effort was great."
The loss drops Marquette to 2-4.
