Humpbacks Nip Redlegs, 4-3
|
The Humpbacks faced a stiff challenge from Sacramento pitcher Bo Reid, but persevered to claim a win at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 4-3. Reid went 9 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Octávio Valdéz got the save, the 5th for him this season. Alaskan goes to 64-31. The win puts them 7˝ games up in their division.
Tied up with the Redlegs in the top of the fifth inning, the Humpbacks got a boost from second baseman Rob Morse. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Morse saw a 0-2 knuckleball from Bo Reid and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put Alaskan on top, 4-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Sacramento manager Rich Hunter. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
