Hotspur Reserves Raise Rally Flag, Beat Key West, 7-5
|
Phoenix and Key West duked it out at Milton Corner Tavern and the Hotspur Reserves came out victorious.
Key West center fielder Yoshihiro Iwasaki had a good game, even if his team did not. The Coral Reefers dropped a 7-5 decision to Phoenix at Milton Corner Tavern. Iwasaki went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Phoenix reliever Eduardo Márquez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Dave Haynes shouldered the loss.
Carlos Rodríguez said the idea of hitting a home run barely crossed his mind when he came to bat in the top of the eighth. Rodríguez belted a 2-run home run to stake Phoenix to a 7-5 lead. His 18th home run of the season came off Key West pitcher Dave Haynes.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Rodríguez. "And not try to do too much."
Phoenix, at 39-51, occupies 10th place in the Menard's AAA.
