Buzz Fall to .500 After Loss to Red Pandas
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas bested the Salt Lake City Buzz by a score of 5-3, with center fielder Ángel Rivera getting the main credit. On the day, Rivera was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Red Pandas. Sioux Falls reliever Esteban González picked up the win to move to 1-0. Tony Smehrik suffered the loss. Sioux Falls is now 39-45. Salt Lake City is 42-42.
Rivera contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Sioux Falls in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Rivera took a cutter from Tony Smehrik and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Red Pandas to leap in front, 3-2.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Salt Lake City manager Don Nelson. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
